Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria is a fast growing city with population
of about 1.5 millions. It is located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain.
It is a very old European city, founded in 7th century BC by the Thracians.
Later it was part of the Roman Empire and the ex-Roman empire Byzantia.
Since year 681 when Bulgaria was founded it has been a major bulgarian city
and it has been a capital since 1879.
The city is visited each year by many tourists with many different intrests
and purposes - to see the natural, archaeological and historical sites, to ski
on Vitosha or the mountains around, to go to Black Sea beaches, to invest or
buy property in the "new" post communist country, for meetings, business,
education and science, etc.
